Hongdae: Heart and Soul of Youth Culture

Happy Monday everyone!

My friends and I couldn't go to Seoul and not visit Hongdae. Hongdae is a vibrant and upbeat area of Seoul and located near Hongik University. It is very much the epitome of Korea's youth culture with it's streets lined with a plethora of cafes, clubs, clothing stores and urban street art. Hongdae is well-known for its clubbing atmosphere and even houses N2 which is run by one of the Big 3 record companies in Korea: YG Entertainment. Although we didn't go clubbing, it was easy to spot potential clubbers at nighttime as we walked down the streets with music blasting from every store and club.

Indie music, Jazz and other underground bands are popular--we even saw quite a few street performers! Hongdae is the place for young adults to congregate and have a good time. Because it attracts such a large number of youth, prices are always reasonable which we found to be extremely helpful :) Enjoy!

Made it to Hongdae!

I can't even...

Apparently cars can park in the middle of the street which confused me for the first five minutes as I kept waiting for the cars to drive by.. -___-;

For all you Hello Kitty fans out there :) Didn't go inside, but just seeing it was enough for me!

More shopping~ cheap clothes everywhere for the budget-friendly college student :)

Cute accessory stores with cheap accessories? Yep!

Saw this sign and made a beeline :D You can't say no to 32 cm of ice cream!

Yep...I could definitely get used to eating this quite often :)

Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream for those of you who love science :) They had party lights, loud music and made it right in front of you too!

Haven't been to many festivals, but I can guarantee you that I have never seen that before...

A definitely interesting building entrance! Talk about eye-catching.

Who knew CDs could be so pretty~ :)

That's it for today~ I hope you enjoyed the photos! Have a wonderful week ^^
